Hanging Rock

Michael and I have been going on a lot mountain trips on the weekends with the dogs to calm down from the busy weeks in school we have been having. This last weekend we went to Hanging Rock again so he could shoot a picture for portfolio, but also so we could have some fun while getting a workout! This is a plant I found just as the sun was going down on our way out!

This is the view from a rock that is over the falls near Tory's Den.

This is an impromptu shot I got of Michael's hiking shoes while he was climbing around like a monkey.

This is Michael's dog, Carmen. She is a pitbull, but also the sweetest dog I have ever met in my entire life. Plus she is just absolutely beautiful! Here, she was feeling bombastic and was literally attacking a branch. This angle really shows off her intense eyes!

Spring Assignment

Nothing says spring like feeling the grass between your toes! This was taken for Joey's "spring" assignment this week. People's reactions were priceless seeing me laying down on my stomach in the wet grass taking pictures of someone's feet. A big thanks to Michael for being such a great foot model, despite people's stares!

Stone Mountain

Last weekend Michael, Winston, BamBam, and I took a trip to Stone Mountain (this time without the large format camera, and all the way to the top!) Here's Michael's backpack at the summit.

The trip down the mountain was a little more exciting. Pretty trails and hidden nooks and such. The dappled light later in the afternoon backlit the foliage on the other side of the mountain, creating little patches of vivid colors. A photographer's DREAM!

This is the view from the top of the waterfall right before sunset.

Faking Fall

Spring is just beginning outside, but yet at the RCC campus there is one tree that makes it seem like it is closer to October than May! Was pretty refreshing to see a richer color outside in a sea of green and pastels.

Monochrome

This is my yellow picture for monochrome (meaning "one color"). This was actually taken on Armadillo Drive. Thank goodness for my spotter! Laying down in the road facing away from oncoming traffic is kind of unnerving unless someone is watching your back for you!

This is my green picture for monochrome. I found this at my apartment complex. One of my neighbors likes to plant things in front of his porch, so I just found these little bitty seedlings just sitting there waiting to be planted!

Eric's Portraits

This is one of my long time best friends, Eric. He will be leaving in a few weeks to go to basic training in Texas for the Air Force. So, last weekend I drove to Winston-Salem, and we had a farewell photo shoot! We shot mostly at River Park, which is right on the Yadkin River. This one was the last one of the day, and also my favorite!

Thanks for modeling for me, Eric! And good luck!

Color Projects

I shot the one above for complementary (cyan and red). It was taken in Downtown Asheboro in a completely cyan alleyway!

I shot this one for our analogous assignment. This was taken in Asheboro as well.

Stone Mountain

Michael and I + Carmen and Winston took a trip to Stone Mountain to take pictures a couple weekends ago. Michael got an amazing shot with the 4x5 view camera, while I went off photo exploring! This was a shot I "caught".

It was a beautiful, warm day out! The dogs came and got to run around in the field later in the afternoon.

One thing I learned from this photoshoot though:
-Be physically prepared before you try to haul a medium format, a large format, and a digital camera, as well as two dogs up the mountain!

Definitely worth it for some quality negatives, though!
